James (Jim) McDermott, the interim CEO of Olympus Insurance Company, brings more than 30 years of executive leadership experience to his current role. Mr. McDermott has held executive managerial positions including President and CEO, CFO, EVP of Operations and Technology, and controllership positions in publicly traded and private equity held organizations.
Mr. McDermott’s experience in the insurance sector includes nearly two decades of advising and / or managing companies in the industry, including leading a Risk Advisory Services practice. He has counseled organizations and regulators on a variety of topics, including analysis of historical coastal vs inland pricing and the evaluation and potential development of a new line of business for a global excess and surplus lines writer. Mr. McDermott has been heavily involved in advisory roles with Boards of Directors and senior managers regarding complex accounting and actuarial analyses. He has also engaged with public capital market dealings exceeding $3.4B.
Mr. McDermott earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting, actuarial science, and quantitative analysis from the University of Wisconsin School of Business. He will serve as interim CEO until a permanent CEO is named to the position.
