The idea for the McGinniss Himmel Insurance Agency started in late 2008 as just two friends and a problem to be solved.
With many major insurance companies leaving the state of Florida and the home insurance market in turmoil, there was a need going unfulfilled. McGinniss Himmel’s goal was simply to help guide homeowners to the right company and right coverages. They began a relationship with the VanAllen Insurance Agency in Inverness, Florida, and in June 2009 started their Tallahassee branch.
When the guys opened their doors, they had some hand-me-down desks, two computers, a few used phones, and a total of two clients. Those two clients were Allen McGinniss and Michael Himmel. Two knowledgeable insurance agents… scared completely out of their minds.
Since then, the agency has grown to 10 team members, finally gotten rid of those ridiculous old desks, and in January 2015, that Tallahassee branch officially became the McGinniss Himmel Insurance Agency.
McGinniss Himmel is incredibly thankful for the support from their clients, friends, family, business partners, and especially Linda VanAllen. They truly believe that without all their help, their little idea wouldn’t have become such a great story.
Allen McGinniss wanted to point out that Olympus is a key business partner that offers one of the strongest comprehensive policy forms in the state and an excellent coverage package. Between the Spartan Package, no forced limited water endorsement, and aggressively priced policies to match the risk, Olympus covers lots of bases. With an appointment since 2009, there is a true partnership with Olympus and McGinniss Himmel.
Q: What are some qualities you like about Olympus?
A: I have always appreciated Olympus having such a comprehensive policy form and excellent coverage package. It really helps give clients the best chance at having a claim covered and at the same time helps protect the agency from uncovered situations.
Q: Coverages, niches and if so – examples? service, etc.
A: Builder’s risk has been helpful for some of our new construction relationships.
